- West Ham’s Konstantinos Mavropanos scorer twice in the 4-0 win over Wolves
- The Hammers want to sign the defender to a new contract
- The 28-year-old is interested in a new challenge
West Ham United are well in the fight to stay in the Premier League this season. The Hammers beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in their last game and head to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace on Monday night, looking for more points on the table.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team currently sit two points above the relegation zone and know a win on Monday will guarantee they stay out of the bottom three going into next week. Whilst there have been many strong performers for West Ham in the second-half of this season, a few names stand out.
One of the names, is Konstantinos Mavropanos. The Greek central defender has been a massive part of the Hammers turnaround and has even found some goal scoring form. From blocking an Erling Haaland shot with his face, to netting three goals in his last two Premier League games.
With that in mind, West Ham are wanting to renew the 28-year-old’s contract but now there is a new twist in the tale, one that may mean the team lose out on their star.
Konstantinos Mavropanos interested in new challenge this summer
According to Sky Sport’s Florian Pletternberg, Mavropanos is keen on a new challenge this summer and is likely to leave the London Stadium. German giants, Borussia Dortmund are known to be interested in the Greece international.
This would be a huge blow for West Ham, with the 28-year-old being one of the best players in an Irons short in 2026. The defender has gone on a significant redemption arc over the last four months and was seen as a pillar the team could build from going forward.

Nuno’s team are also trying to secure the services of Axel Disasi, who is on-loan from Chelsea. The Frenchman is said to be open to the move but losing Mavropanos would leave the Hammers looking to add two central defenders this summer, with cashflow an issue.
The Greek defender’s future is as of yet undecided and may be a situation that lingers on well after the team’s Premier League fate is decided.
