Dragovic On Hammers’ Radar

West Ham are tracking the progress of Dynamo Kiev defender Aleksandar Dragovic, according to a report in the Daily Mail this morning.

The 24-year-old has earned rave-reviews in Ukraine this season, and is being touted as one of the most promising defenders across Europe.

West Ham want to add three or four quality players to the squad in the summer, say’s manager Sam Allardyce, and Dragovic would certainly fit the bill.

The Austrian international centre-back has also been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal since the turn of the year, with a potential £15m transfer being touted.

The Hammers only have three centre-back’s in the first team squad – Winston Reid, James Tomkins (both of whom are tied down to long-term deals) and James Collins, who has also been reported to be on the verge of signing a new contract following a run of good form this season.

Promising youngsters Doneil Henry, on loan at Blackburn in the Championship, Reece Burke and Reece Oxford have been on the fringes of the first team squad this season but aren’t seen to be ready for a regular role any-time soon.

Dragovic would be a real coup for the club in the summer, showing a real statement of intent from the club, who are willing to spend big money.

The club are also looking at adding Barcelona starlet Munir on loan next season, with the young forward expected to leave for first team football, as well as a number of Leeds youngsters, with the clubs having scouted Alex Mowatt, Sam Byram and Lewis Cook this season.
