Rita Guarino wants West Ham Women to sharpen their finishing despite Wednesday’s 3-1 comeback victory over Southampton in the Subway Players Cup.
The Hammers recovered from an early setback at Victoria Road, with Oona Siren scoring twice and Leila Wandeler also finding the net.
However, Guarino believes her side should have made more of their opportunities, particularly before the interval.
Speaking to West Ham’s official website, she said: “I’m happy with the three points, but we need to finish our chances better.”

The head coach praised the team’s approach and willingness to compete, while identifying greater efficiency in front of goal as an area for improvement.
Our West Ham Women 3-1 Southampton match report details how the hosts turned the game around after Ellie Brazil’s early opener.
Southampton goalkeeper Alina Santos was sent off before half-time. Her replacement, Grace Moloney, subsequently saved Kelly Gago’s penalty before Siren equalised from the resulting corner.
Wandeler then put West Ham ahead, with Siren adding the third.
Guarino also welcomed the contributions of debutants Niamh Peacock, Sienna Wareing and Sude Oztas as the Hammers reached five points from two cup fixtures.
Attention now turns to Chelsea’s visit on Sunday 4 October, with kick-off at 2pm BST, as confirmed in West Ham Women’s October fixture schedule.
After a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United in their previous league outing, West Ham will look to carry Wednesday’s response into the WSL.
