Marcus Nilsson’s West Ham Trial Extended by Another Week

Free agent defender Marcus Nilsson has had his trial at the club extended by another week, claim the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old was at Kalmar FF for the first half of the season before his contract expired last month, and has been training with West Ham for the past week as he searches for a new club.

The 6ft 4 centre back and former Utrecht man was once capped by Sweden and will continue to try and impress Sam Allardyce well enough to secure a contract at the club.

West Ham aren’t deep at his position, with only Winston Reid (who may yet leave), James Tomkins and James Collins as our only senior centre backs in the squad.

21-year-old Doneil Henry, signed earlier this month from Apollon Limassol, has yet to feature for the first team but has been a fixture for the Development Squad.

News of Nilsson’s trial extension comes after reported West Ham target, Nigerian defender Azubuike Egwuekwe, signed for Hapoel Tel Aviv, after West Ham failed to agree a fee with his former club Warri Wolves.
