West Ham’s promotion rivals Wolves have received a confident Championship prediction from Mateus Mane, who believes his side should dominate if they maintain their collective effort.
Speaking to Wolves’ official website, the forward said: “if we just play as a team, stick together, fight for the badge and everything, we should smash the league.”
Mane also acknowledged warnings from experienced teammates about the difficulty of the division and the physical demands of its schedule.
His comments concern Wolves’ ambitions rather than a direct challenge to West Ham, who have already beaten them this season.
Mateus Mane outlines Wolves’ Championship ambition
Mane explained that head coach Cesar Peixoto established a title-winning target from the beginning of pre-season.
However, the youngster also stressed the importance of recovery and adapting his game against physically strong opponents who allow little time on the ball.
West Ham have already demonstrated how costly mistakes can be for Wolves.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side secured a 4-2 victory at London Stadium on 1 September, with Divine Mukasa scoring twice, Jarrod Bowen converting a penalty and Konstantinos Mavropanos adding the fourth.
Wolves’ match report records that six-goal meeting, which gave the Hammers an early result against another club targeting an immediate Premier League return.
The next challenge for West Ham is to build on their own start when QPR visit on Friday 9 October.
Our West Ham next five fixtures guide covers the sequence that follows, including trips to Lincoln City and Swansea City.
Mane’s confidence adds interest to the promotion race. Both clubs still have to turn their ambitions into consistent results.
