West Ham midfielder Soungoutou Magassa attracts Crystal Palace interest

Crystal Palace have reportedly placed Soungoutou Magassa on their midfield shortlist, presenting West Ham with another transfer decision before the window closes.

The72 reports that the Eagles are considering the 22-year-old as they assess several midfield options.

However, there is no indication that Palace have submitted a bid, opened talks or selected Magassa as their leading target. Kevin Danois, Neil El Aynaoui and Lamine Camara are also reportedly under consideration.

Soungoutou Magassa interest remains at shortlist stage

Magassa joined West Ham from Monaco last summer, signing a contract until 2031. West Ham announced his arrival after agreeing an initial fee reported to be worth approximately £14.7m.

The France Under-21 international made 26 appearances during his first season in England, starting 14 times across all competitions. He has yet to feature in a competitive matchday squad this term.

Reports earlier this month suggested West Ham were open to offers following previous interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, Galatasaray and Juventus.

Palace’s interest could therefore provide Magassa with a Premier League route away. But his ability to cover defensive midfield and central defence leaves Nuno Espírito Santo with a decision to make.

West Ham have strengthened the midfield with Arne Engels’ arrival from Celtic, while James Ward-Prowse and Lewis Orford remain available. Edson Alvarez’s uncertain future and Tomáš Souček’s injury could still make further departures difficult to manage.

As explained in our West Ham transfer deep dive, the club need to balance raising funds with preserving enough depth for a demanding Championship season.

Palace’s shortlist position is a development to monitor rather than evidence of an advanced transfer. A formal offer would change the calculation considerably.
