West Ham United are reportedly increasingly likely to lose Soungoutou Magassa before the transfer window closes, with the club now open to offers for the 22-year-old.
The latest Soungoutou Magassa West Ham transfer update points towards another significant departure from Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad.
Magassa only joined West Ham from Monaco last summer in a deal worth an initial €17million (£14.7m) plus €3m in add-ons. He signed a long-term contract after the Hammers fought off late competition for his signature.
His future now appears considerably less certain.
Soungoutou Magassa West Ham transfer exit now expected
Claret & Hugh report that a well-placed West Ham transfer source believes Magassa is “highly likely” to leave, with the club prepared to listen to offers. The midfielder has struggled to establish himself as a regular under Nuno.
Galatasaray and Eintracht Frankfurt have both been linked with moves during the summer, while Juventus have also previously been credited with interest.
ReadWestHam reported in June that Eintracht had revived their interest in Magassa. He made 26 appearances for West Ham during his first season, but only 14 of those came as starts.
A departure would create another issue for West Ham’s recruitment team.
Magassa can operate in central midfield and defence, while Claret & Hugh suggest his potential exit could increase the need for at least two midfield additions before the window shuts.
That comes during an already substantial rebuild following relegation. Nuno and Nils Koppen have continued changing the squad ahead of the Championship campaign, with both arrivals and departures still expected before September.
Magassa was signed as one of West Ham’s promising long-term midfield options less than 12 months ago. The latest indication is that his time in east London could now end far sooner than expected.
