West Ham midfielder Sienna-Rose Wareing has been called into England’s Under-23 squad, days after making her Hammers debut against Southampton.
England confirmed on Monday that the 18-year-old replaces Sarah Brasero, who has withdrawn through injury.
Lydia Bedford’s side begin their defence of the U23 European competition against Norway at York’s LNER Community Stadium on Monday 12 October. Kick-off is at 7.30pm BST.
The call-up gives Wareing another opportunity to develop her international career after representing England at Under-19 level earlier this year.
Wareing builds on first West Ham appearance
Wareing featured in last Wednesday’s 3-1 cup victory over Southampton, with Rita Guarino welcoming her contribution alongside fellow debutants Niamh Peacock and Sude Oztas.
Our report on Guarino’s Southampton reaction covered the head coach’s assessment of that comeback win.
The midfielder joined West Ham in July, signing her first professional contract after seven years at Manchester United.
According to her official West Ham profile, she arrived after winning United’s Academy Under-21 Player of the Year award and helping them lift the Professional Game Academy Plate.
She also made three appearances during England’s 2026 Under-19 European Championship qualifying campaign.
The next step is to compete for minutes in Bedford’s squad. Selection brings that opportunity, with the Norway fixture offering West Ham supporters a chance to follow her progress during the club’s international break.
