  • West Ham play Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow in the Premier League
  • Jean-Clair Todibo is expected to be included in the squad
  • The Hammers can get out of the bottom three with a win

West Ham United host Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow as they look to take a huge step towards Premier League survival. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team can move out of the relegation zone with a win but that is easier said than done.

Jean-Clair Todibo, who has missed the last two games for West Ham, is set to return to the squad for tomorrow’s game. Speaking to the club’s official club website, the Frenchman has outlined just how determined the group are the stay in the top flight.

“We are a very good group,” Todibo said. “Everyone is all together, fighting for each other, so I think the group is living very well at the moment. We just go all together into the war and it’s easier for everyone.

“[When we complete the task of staying up] the feeling is going to be very, very, very good. I think everyone is feeling the pressure, so it’s very, very important for us to save us.

“And not only us [as players], we are talking about the people who are working for us in the Club – the staff, the player care, the guys who work in the media – and the fans, because if the Club goes down, there are some people who are going to lose their jobs. So, [we are] trying to save everyone because they are really important for the Club, important for us. They take care of us, so the mission for us is to give them back the love that they give us every day.”

West Ham’s French connection

One thing that has worked in West Ham‘s favour since January, is their French centre-back partnership. Axel Disasi joined on-loan from Chelsea and has been a revelation, with Todibo helping the player feel settled at the London Stadium.

“It’s easy for us to live together!” he said. “Axel is French, so obviously for me it’s very easy. We speak the same language. He’s just one year older than me, so the connection is already there. We’ve been rivals when he was in Monaco and I was in Nice and we played together in the French national team so we knew each other, so for us it was very easy.

“Axel is a very simple person, so it’s easy to put him in a group and be there as someone important and he’s also a very great player, so I think for him it was easy.

“With Dinos and Max, the relationship has been very good for a long time. Now, I think the dynamic of the group changed. We start to know each other more so I think now, even in the group, we just feel better with each other.”

Time to step up for Todibo

Todibo is expected to be available tomorrow night and has been training all week leading up to it. The 26-year-old is desperate to get back in and get back to his rhythm.

“I’m feeling okay,” he confirmed. “I’ve worked a lot since the injury. I hope I’m going to be okay for the game on Friday and let’s see what happens.

“Unfortunately, I got the red card against Chelsea, so it stopped me a bit in terms of keeping the rhythm. I was out for three games and when I came back, the team were doing very well so I had to sit on the bench.

“I’m managing well, I’m just working and trying to do my best when the manager asks me to be on the pitch and nothing else.

“It’s my first injury this year. I was very sad because I think it’s not the moment to be injured or having a red card, because I think we really need everyone in the team for this fight.”
