AS Roma’s Director of Football, Walter Sabatini, has travelled to London today to negotiate deals with West Ham for two of their players, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Hammers are said to be interested in signing two of the Serie A club’s main forwards – Mattia Destro and Gervinho, with the hope of concluding a deal to sign one of them.
The Italian striker’s switch to West Ham on loan was all but confirmed, but the Hammers remain unconvinced about completing a deal for the player, who scored three goals in 15 appearances for AC Milan on loan last season.
Sabatini believes he can convince West Ham officials that they should go through with the deal, while also negotiating a possible move for former Arsenal man Gervinho.
The Ivorian winger was set to join Al Jazira before the move fell through, and has since been linked with a possible loan move to Upton Park, with a view to make the move permanent next summer for a reported €14m.
Gervinho would be a like-for-like replacement for Stewart Downing, who is expected to complete his move to Middlesbrough this week.
