Former West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison will not quit Lazio this summer, without playing an appearance for the club, claims Il Tempo.
It was claimed that the England U21 international had failed to settle in Italy, and was looking for a way to get out of his pre-contract agreement with Lazio.
QPR, who took Morrison on loan from West Ham for the second half of the 2013/14 season, were said to be interested in bringing the 22-year-old back to English football, without even featuring for Lazio, and it wasn’t completely out of the question for West Ham to consider a move either.
The enigmatic yet frustrating attacking midfielder wasn’t seen as a first-team regular under the now departed Sam Allardyce, and following a series of court cases for aggravated assault charges, he decided that he wouldn’t wait for the managerial position to be resolved and sign a new deal, instead opting for the Serie A and Lazio.
After signing a pre-contract deal in January which would see him join up full time with his new team-mates this summer, Morrison agreed to a mutual termination to the remainder of his contract, and flew to Rome to conduct regular training with the club and get acclimatised.
The Biancocelesti convinced Morrison that he’s better off in Italy for the time being and should honour his contract.
