West Ham winger Manor Solomon accepted part of the blame for Israel’s failure to beat Kosovo on Thursday, admitting his side lacked quality in front of goal.
The goalless Nations League draw brought Israel their first point of the campaign, but Solomon felt there had been enough chances to secure a victory.
Speaking to Sport5 after the match, he said, translated from Hebrew: “Some of that was entirely down to me.”
Solomon said Israel had created three or four clear scoring opportunities and acknowledged that he and his fellow attackers needed to deliver more.
His assessment followed his frustration after the defeat by Ireland, when Israel conceded three times inside the opening 25 minutes.
Manor Solomon admits fatigue before Ireland rematch
Solomon also admitted: “I’m tired.”
The winger described the demands of playing every few days, travelling and changing hotels, while accepting that managing those pressures was part of his job.
Israel face the Republic of Ireland again on Sunday 4 October, giving him another opportunity to respond before returning to West Ham.
The Hammers then host QPR on Friday 9 October, with kick-off at London Stadium scheduled for 8pm BST.
That leaves five days between Israel’s final international and the resumption of West Ham’s Championship campaign.
For Nuno Espírito Santo, Solomon’s workload in Sunday’s match will therefore be worth watching. His admission of tiredness adds context to that turnaround, although these comments do not establish an injury or rule him out against QPR.
