West Ham lead both Tottenham and Newcastle in the race to sign AC Milan forward M’Baye Niang, according to L’Equipe.
Niang enjoyed a strong loan spell at fellow Serie A side Genoa last season, playing 14 games with five goals and two assists.
Last summer West Ham attempted to bring the Frenchman in on a season-long loan from Milan, only to see it fall through late in proceedings.
The 20-year-old is an U21 international and can play on either wing as well as a central striker.
Before he signed for Milan in 2012, Niang was close to a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham having all taken him on trial during their pre-season activities as Caen were willing to let him leave the club.
