West Ham United are pushing to sign Viking winger Edvin Austbø after continuing negotiations over a deal for the highly-rated Norwegian.
The Hammers have returned to talks for the 21-year-old after seeing an offer worth around £8million rejected earlier in the transfer window.
ExWHUEmployee reports via The West Ham Way that discussions with Viking continued on Friday, with West Ham keen to complete the transfer.
West Ham continue Edvin Austbo talks
Austbø has remained on West Ham’s radar despite the difficulty of reaching an agreement with Viking.
The Hammers submitted an offer worth around £8m earlier this month, but Viking rejected the proposal.
There had initially been no further negotiations after that bid. However, the latest update confirms West Ham have now returned to the table.
Austbø has already indicated that a move to East London would appeal to him. The Norway Under-21 international opened the door to joining West Ham following the rejected bid.
West Ham’s pursuit also comes as Nuno Espírito Santo looks for additional attacking options before the transfer deadline.
The club have considered several possibilities on the wing, including Leeds United’s Largie Ramazani, while Reiss Nelson has also been on their radar.
The latest ExWHUEmployee update suggests Austbø remains a serious target, despite negotiations proving difficult.
West Ham now need to find an agreement with Viking if they are to turn their long-standing interest into another late-window addition.
