- Jarrod Bowen hopes to make this summer’s England squad for the World Cup
- Gary Lineker shares the sentiment, saying he should be included
- Bowen added two assists to his tally on Friday night
West Ham United are in the midst of a Premier League survival fight. The Hammers took a huge step forward by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 on Friday night but there is still work to do for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
Aside from staying up this season there is a lot of incentive for many Hammers players. The World Cup is just around the corner and whilst some known they will be appearing for their nations, others sit on the fringes, hoping performances can put them on the plane to North America this summer.
One of the names on the “hopeful” list, is West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen. The 29-year-old has been included in many of Thomas Tuchel’s squads, having gone to the 2024 Euro’s under Gareth Southgate. Despite this, Bowen faces lots of competition from the likes of Bukayo Saka and Non Madueke, who both play in his preferred position.
This season the Hammers captain has the most goal involvements of any Englishman in the Premier League, adding two more to his tally on Friday night. Bowen is hopeful he can play his way onto the plane, and in turn keep his team in the top flight.
Gary Lineker backs Jarrod Bowen’s World Cup dream
To date, Bowen has made 22 appearances for England, scoring one goal. The 29-year-old earned two caps in the last camp, both from the bench but failed to show his true self and is hoping his form on the pitch can get him to where he wants to be.

| 36 | 10 | 9 |
Bowen’s performances are catching the eye and former Three Lions frontman Gary Lineker is in agreement that the Hammers captain should be on the plane.
Speaking on his podcast, The Rest Is Football, the former Leicester City and Barcelona striker says he expects the 29-year-old to go, citing his form and versatility.
“He’ll probably feature this summer, won’t he? With England, in the squad. I think he’s one of those who can fill in a variety of different positions. He’ll probably make the squad.”
There is still a long way to go for both West Ham and Bowen this season but should the winger keep up his form, it is hard to see him not being included by Tuchel.
The Hammers captain is hopeful to achieve both goals of a World Cup and Premier League survival and whilst Bowen sticks to his job, the voices of praise continue to grow.
