- West Ham beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 on Friday night
- The three points takes the Hammers out of the bottom three
- Jarrod Bowen states the team know what they have to do to stay above the line
West Ham United beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in an emphatic win on Friday night. Goals from Konstantinos Mavropanos and Valentin Castellenos secured the win for the Hammers, as the three points took them out of the Premier League’s bottom three.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have continued to improve and were well worth the win. West Ham fell out of the FA Cup on penalties and were determined to bounce back, something Jarrod Bowen has been telling the club’s official website.
“We were disappointed at not being able to make Wembley last weekend, and we knew how big the game was tonight,” said Bowen, who also hit the post against Wolves. “Everyone knew there were seven league games left, and we spoke about what we needed to do.
“We couldn’t wait to get out there, and although it was a bit of a nervy affair to begin with, we got our confidence once we settled into the game, we got the goal, and then after that we obviously managed to get three more.
“I think that first goal always helps with confidence, and with the mood. We knew it was going to be cagey, because Wolves have been doing well, so we had to stay calm and stick to the plan. I think we did that, and we reaped the rewards which is great.”
Everyone has a part to play for West Ham
Mavropanos and Castellenos got the goals for West Ham on Friday night as the team continues to spread roles throughout the squad. Mavropanos in particular has come to life on the goal scoring front, something Bowen knew he was always capable of.
“He (Mavropanos) always gets in good areas in the box. I always tell him to just run in the box, because his timing and his heading ability is really good. His finishing is all down to him, and he deserved his two goals and the Man of the Match award because he was brilliant.
“He’s (Taty) been brilliant for us. His work rate is great, and I think the fans love him for that. He deserves the goals he got tonight, especially after the disappointment of having one disallowed against Leeds. He deserves all the credit.
“As a team, we know what we have to do now. There’s no hiding away from the situation and we know we still have a lot of questions to answer, but we did well tonight and we’ll be looking forward to going again next week.”
West Ham return to action on Monday night, as they head to Crystal Palace in yet another huge game in the survival fight.
