Roma Set €40m Ceiling In Summerville Talks With West Ham

Roma have held their first direct talks with Crysencio Summerville’s representatives, but the Serie A club are refusing to move above a €40million fee as West Ham continue to demand more than €50million for the winger.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Roma’s football director met with Summerville’s agents in the Italian capital on Tuesday, following this morning’s reports of a concrete Roma approach, with the two camps still some distance apart on both fee and wages. Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio adds that Roma are also unwilling to offer more than around €4million a season in salary, a real sticking point given Summerville’s Premier League-level wage demands.

Coincidental Rome Trip Turns Into Transfer Business

Di Marzio reports that Summerville’s representatives were only in Rome because they also handle Danilho Doekhi, who completed his own move from Union Berlin to Lazio this week, but used the trip to sit down with Roma over their client’s West Ham future.

Manchester United remain long-term admirers of Summerville, though any move there is understood to hinge on Marcus Rashford leaving Old Trafford first, while Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa have also been credited with interest. West Ham, meanwhile, have already fought to keep hold of Jarrod Bowen this summer and will not be rushed into accepting anything below their valuation for Summerville too.

With the numbers still far apart, nothing looks close to being finalised, but Tuesday’s meeting is the clearest sign yet that Roma mean business over one of West Ham’s prize assets.
