AS Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour is said to be open to a move to West Ham this summer, after reports claiming the opposite.
The Tunisian centre-back has been heavily linked with a €20m move across The Channel to the Hammers this summer, despite being linked with the likes of Champions League finalists Barcelona and Juventus.
L’Equipe reported several days ago that West Ham were expected to agree a deal to sign the 25-year-old this week as they look to add some genuine quality to their back four ahead of the club’s biggest season in recent history.
In addition, a report in today’s AS quotes a family member of Abdennour who say’s the player has ‘no favourite’ in terms of a possible destination, and will wait for the club to agree a fee for his services before making up his mind.
“They’ve [Atletico Madrid] come, but also with other teams in Italy, England and Spain. Today Abdennour has no favourite: [AC] Milan, West Ham and Liverpool have shown interest, but he wants to wait for an agreement between clubs before making a decision” the family member told Spanish newspaper AS.
The Boleyn Insider today reported that West Ham were hoping to complete a deal for ‘one of the best defenders in Europe last season’, which is certainly in-line with a player of Abdennour’s stature.
Jack Sullivan also tweeted out that a centre-back was flying in for a medical tomorrow.
