West Ham lose Salmon and Nyström for Chelsea clash

West Ham Women injuries

West Ham Women will be without Ebony Salmon and Eva Nyström against Chelsea after Rita Guarino confirmed both players remain injured.

The forward and defender picked up problems against Manchester United last weekend and missed the midweek cup victory over Southampton. Neither will feature when Chelsea visit Dagenham on Sunday.

Speaking in her pre-match press conference, published by West Ham, Guarino confirmed that medical staff are treating both players but could not offer a return date.

“Eva Nyström and Ebony Salmon will not be in the squad,” she said.

West Ham Women injuries limit Guarino’s Chelsea options

The confirmation removes two options from different areas of Guarino’s squad, with Nyström unavailable in defence and Salmon missing from the attack.

Our predicted West Ham XI against Chelsea already left Nyström out while awaiting clarification over her availability. Guarino’s announcement now confirms that she cannot be considered for Sunday.

West Ham approach the match after beating Southampton 3-1 in the Subway Players Cup. Oona Siren scored twice and Leila Wandeler added the other goal, giving Guarino positive attacking contributions to build on.

However, the Hammers must now translate that cup response into league points after losing their previous WSL match at Manchester United.

Sunday’s match kicks off at 2pm BST at the Chigwell Construction Stadium. Our West Ham Women vs Chelsea TV guide has the broadcast and streaming details.
