‘Almost Impossible’ For Hammers To Sign Midfielder

West Ham are finding it ‘almost impossible’ to sign free agent midfielder Lassana Diarra, says Jack Sullivan.

Sullivan revealed today that the former French international midfielder would be ‘almost impossible’ to sign as any club would have to pay £10m for reasons yet to be disclosed.

Diarra fell out with his last club Lokomotiv Moscow about missing wages and refused to play, and was subsequently released in August 2014, but has been blocked from signing a contract with another club.

West Ham agreed a deal to sign the free agent in January, but FIFA blocked the move.

“We had agreed a deal and unfortunately the FIFA regulation – that hasn’t been explained to me yet – there is a FIFA regulation at the moment that cannot be overcome so he will not be joining us until the end of the season,” former manager Sam Allardyce told Sky Sports News.

The 30-year-old has spent time with Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea, and said this about his situation in February.

“As long as the conflict is not sorted, FIFA forbid me to play so it’s so frustrating.

“What happened was that I got fired from a club and now I cannot play football. It’s a crazy thing because I’m free.

“Hopefully it can all be resolved and the deal with West Ham can be completed.”
