Viviane Asseyi returns to West Ham Women’s starting XI against Chelsea, with Oona Siren retaining her place after scoring twice in the midweek win over Southampton.
Rita Guarino has named Katie Zelem as captain for the Women’s Super League meeting at Victoria Road, which kicks off at 2pm BST.
Asseyi was absent from Wednesday’s cup squad but starts alongside Kelly Gago and Seraina Piubel in today’s selection. Leila Wandeler, who also scored against Southampton, is among the substitutes.
Nadine Riesen, Estelle Cascarino, Saki Kumagai and Zelem also return to the starting side after sitting out the Southampton XI.
West Ham Women confirmed lineup against Chelsea
Starting XI: Picaud-Inconnu, Riesen, Codina, Cascarino, Belloumou, Kumagai, Zelem (captain), Siren, Piubel, Asseyi, Gago.
Substitutes: Walsh, Dowsett, Endo, Tennebø, Wareing, Morgan, Peacock, Wandeler.
Guarino keeps faith with Siren after her two goals helped West Ham recover to beat Southampton 3-1. The midfielder now has another opportunity to carry that attacking contribution into league football.
Asseyi’s inclusion is the main difference from our predicted West Ham lineup against Chelsea, which included Wandeler while awaiting clarity over the French forward’s availability.
Chelsea have confirmed two changes from their draw at Lyon. Sandy Baltimore and Maika Hamano come in, with Lexi Potter and Alyssa Thompson rested.
Hannah Hampton starts in goal after receiving treatment late in that European fixture.
