Reported West Ham target Marcel Reguła made his senior Poland debut on Friday as Jan Urban’s side beat Romania 6-0 in the Nations League.
The 19-year-old Zagłębie Lubin player replaced Sebastian Szymański in the 71st minute in Warsaw, according to the Polish FA’s official match report.
Poland were already 5-0 ahead when he entered, with Romania down to ten men following Radu Drăgușin’s first-half dismissal. Robert Lewandowski completed his hat-trick late on.
Reguła nearly added a debut goal in stoppage time, but goalkeeper Otto Hindrich saved his effort.
Marcel Reguła catches the eye after West Ham links
Local outlet Lubin.pl highlighted an energetic cameo. It reported that Reguła beat Andrei Borza with his first touch, drawing a foul that earned the Romanian a booking.
The same account credited him with launching a counterattack and finding Lewandowski during another forward move.
The scoreline and numerical advantage offered a favourable introduction to senior international football. Even so, earning his first cap marks a clear step forward for the teenager.
West Ham’s interest remains a reported transfer link. Our earlier coverage of Reguła and Cologne’s interest outlined the claims surrounding his future.
Hammers News has reiterated that he is a January target, but the debut does not establish any progress towards a deal.
For West Ham supporters following the link, Friday offered a first glimpse of Reguła at senior international level. His next challenge is to turn that opportunity into further appearances for Poland.
