Hammers Keen On Kone

West Ham are said to be interested in signing Lorient defender Lamine Kone this summer.

The Hammers join Sunderland and relegated QPR in the race to sign the 26-year-old centre-back, who Lorient feel will leave the club this summer.

However they face competition from Besiktas to sign the highly-rated Ligue 1 defender, who have reportedly made a bid for his services this week.

Kone signed for Lorient from Chateauroux in 2010 for a reported fee of £880,000, and made 30 appearances for the club this past season, scoring one goal and recording one assist from the heart of the defence.

The Telegraph say the Hammers are keen on adding a centre-back to their squad, despite have four first-team players at the position already.

AS Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour is said to be ‘one step away’ from completing an €18m move to Upton Park this summer, while the club are also monitoring free agent Ron Vlaar and his contract situation.
