West Ham are reconsidering making their loan move for Barcelona midfielder Alex Song permanent when the summer transfer window opens, say the Daily Mirror.
It’s a certainty that the 27-year-old will leave the Spanish giants in the summer, but his destination is yet unknown, but Song has reiterated his desire to stay in England.
Following a great start to the season however, Song’s form has dipped since the turn of the year, putting off West Ham and also Liverpool from making a summer move for him.
It was revealed last week that Song believed that the loan switch to West Ham would be a stepping stone to a bigger club the following season, as he believes he will join either the Reds or Manchester City at the end of the season.
West Ham are also put off by his excessive wage demands, with it believed that Song will demand over £100,000-a-week to stay with the Hammers beyond this season, a figure David Gold and David Sullivan are not willing to pay.
