West Ham are determined to keep El Hadji Malick Diouf after rejecting an opening offer from Brentford.
Football Insider reports that West Ham are doing everything possible to prevent Diouf from leaving the London Stadium.
Former Hammers scout Mick Brown believes the club will attempt to convince the 21-year-old that they can secure an immediate Premier League return. Brentford remain the most advanced suitors after submitting an undisclosed offer.
West Ham have already completed significant sales involving Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville. Those departures have reduced the financial pressure to approve further exits.
West Ham Malick Diouf transfer stance remains firm
ReadWestHam previously reported that West Ham rejected Brentford’s bid and declared Diouf not for sale. The club view the defender as an important part of Nuno’s promotion plans.
Diouf provided five assists across 32 Premier League appearances during his first season in English football. His pace and powerful deliveries made him one of West Ham’s most productive attacking outlets from the left.
Brown described Diouf’s crosses as “missiles” and believes any striker would enjoy attacking his deliveries. He also warned that West Ham must make a clear effort to persuade the defender to remain in the Championship.
Manchester United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Everton have also been linked with Diouf. Further Premier League interest could test West Ham’s position before the transfer window closes.
However, the Hammers retain a strong negotiating position. Diouf is under a long-term contract, while the club no longer need to sanction another major sale.
West Ham’s Malick Diouf transfer stance has therefore remained unchanged despite Brentford’s approach. Nuno wants the left-back to play a central role in the club’s attempt to return to the Premier League at the first opportunity.
