West Ham have rejected a Brentford bid for El Hadji Malick Diouf and told their London rivals that the defender is not for sale.
It remains unclear whether Brentford will return with an improved offer. However, Standard Sport reports that West Ham have no intention of allowing the 21-year-old to leave during the current window.
The Hammers initially needed to raise funds after their relegation to the Championship. Significant fees for Fernandes and Summerville have since strengthened their position, allowing Nuno Espirito Santo to retain more of his squad.
ReadWestHam previously reported that Brentford had submitted an offer for the Senegal international. Talks had opened between the clubs, but West Ham have now given the Bees a firm response.

Diouf provided five assists in 32 Premier League appearances during his first season in English football. His pace and crossing ability made him one of West Ham’s most effective attacking outlets from left-back.
Brentford are looking for long-term competition for Rico Henry, who has struggled with injuries since returning from a second anterior cruciate ligament problem. Keane Lewis-Potter and Aaron Hickey can provide cover, but neither offers a guaranteed long-term solution.
Diouf would have provided Premier League experience and significant development potential. However, West Ham view him as an important part of their attempt to secure an immediate return to the top flight.
The Senegal international can operate as either a left-back or wing-back, making him particularly suitable for Nuno’s system. His delivery could also become an important weapon against Championship opponents who defend with deeper defensive lines.
