- Crysencio Summerville is one of the names West Ham United will likely sell
- Summerville has announced a deal with Nike
- The winger has also been named in the Netherlands World Cup squad
Crysencio Summerville was always going to be one of the names that dominated West Ham United’s summer discourse.
In the days after the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League, it has emerged that the club will be reluctantly forced to sell numerous high-profile players to cope with the club’s precarious financial situation, with Summerville one of the headline names cited for an exit.
Since the Dutch winger joined from Leeds United for more than £25 million in the summer of 2024, he has gradually emerged as one of the club’s bright lights despite the recent season culminating in relegation. The 24-year-old finished the campaign as West Ham’s second-highest goal contributor with ten involvements in all competitions behind club captain Jarrod Bowen, which underlines why Premier League teams are keeping an eye on him.
Ahead of an expected summer of speculation, Summerville has already penned a deal with a leading sports apparel brand.
Crysencio Summerville signs Nike deal ahead of “new chapter”
Summerville has been announced as a Nike athlete, a commercial connection that, although not directly related to his club future, raises his visibility at a time when his market value is high. The Dutchman shared the news on his social media on Tuesday afternoon.
Summerville’s Instagram caption read: “My whole career I only played in Swoosh… and I’m beyond blessed to announce that I’m officially part of the Nike family again.
“A preCiouS moment. Grateful for the journey and motivated for everything that’s still ahead.
“New chapter. New level. Same hunger.”
Summerville had already been seen sporting Nike boots across his career, but now can officially don the brand and enjoy the appeal it carries.
What’s ahead for Summerville this summer
The news from Nike comes a week after Summerville received his first call-up to the Netherlands national team, after being named in Ronald Koeman’s 2026 World Cup Squad. “I am fired up. I can’t wait to get started. From the first whistle, it’s full steam ahead for me. If the coach puts me in the starting line-up, I’ll be there,” he said upon arriving at the camp at the start of the week.
Summerville has been linked to a number of clubs, including Roma and, more recently, Tottenham Hotspur, and it remains to be seen whether more parties will join the interest if he were to perform in North America this summer.
Summerville’s age, market value, and Premier League experience make him one of the squad’s most appealing options to prospective buyers. Clubs are aware that he has established himself in England, first with Leeds during his Championship Player of the Season campaign and then with West Ham, despite the team’s troubles.
Following relegation, Summerville publicly said, “the comeback starts now,” which many supporters took as a suggestion that he might stay in East London for at least another season. It remains to be seen whether this is the case, and with the added spotlight of being a Nike representative in a World Cup year, all signs point to a player destined for the door.
