  • West Ham play Crystal Palace tonight at Selhurst Park.
  • Jarrod Bowen has the most goal involvements on any English player in the Premier League
  • Nuno Espirito Santo has praised the Hammers captain

West Ham United have had a difficult campaign to date but are now in control of their Premier League destiny. The Hammers sit one point above the bottom three heading into Monday night’s showdown with Crystal Palace.

Nuno Espirito Santo has led the Hammers comeback but has a lot of players to thank. Axel Disasi joined in January and has helped to heal a once terrible defensive unit. Up top Valentin Castellanos has helped to see a unit finally convert some chances, truly the West Ham revolution has been a team effort.

One of the team’s biggest performers, as is the case every year, has been club captain Jarrod Bowen. The 29-year-old is vying for a World Cup place with England and whilst he may say his performances are below par, his boss disagrees with the winger posting the most goal involvements of any Englishman in the Premier League this season.

Nuno praises Jarrod Bowen’s leadership skill

To get out of a situation West Ham are in it takes everyone, none more so than the team’s captain. Speaking to Sky Sports in the build up to Monday’s game, Nuno has praised Bowen, saying his performance and leadership have been invaluable to the team.

“He’s been amazing. Jarrod has been huge for us.

“He leads by example. The teammates trust him. He’s the club captain. It means a lot. He’s taking on board this responsibility.

“Jarrod doesn’t stop for one minute.

“This is the main message that we want as a squad to see. Look, no matter which situation we are in, we keep giving it, we keep insisting, we keep believing. And Jarrod is the proof of that.”
