  • West Ham travel to Crystal Palace on Monday night in the Premier League
  • A win would guarantee the Hammers stay out of the bottom three for the week
  • Crystal Palace are nearly safe in the top flight

West Ham United travel to Selhurst Park on Monday night, hunting another three points in their Premier League survival fight. The Hammers won their last game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in emphatic style, taking them out of the bottom three, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team looking to do it again and stay out of the drop zone.

West Ham are at full-fitness heading to Monday night, knowing they have to use everything at their disposal to get points. Results over the weekend could see the Irons drop back into the bottom three, but a win for Nuno’s side would guarantee they will be outside of it come Tuesday morning.

Crystal Palace are all but safe in the Premier League and their attention has been turned elsewhere. Oliver Glasner’s team progressed in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday night, beating Fiorentina on aggregate. The Hammers will be hoping for tired legs come kick-off on Monday.

Key Statistics

  • Crystal Palace rank 8th in the xG table, but sit 13th, underperforming expected points by nearly six.
  • West Ham have conceded 57 goals in the Premier League this season, 17 more than they have scored.
  • Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix and Adam Wharton both limped off injured on Thursday night.
  • West Ham have scored nine goals in their last five games in all competitions, their best goal scoring run of the season.
  • Crystal Palace have only conceded four goals in their last five games in all competitions, with two of them coming on Thursday night.
  • West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen sits 6th in the Premier League for goal involvements this season.

Prediction

Here, a handful of our writers give their prediction for the game…

Matt Bottomley

“West Ham put on a show on Friday night. After handling a small wave of attacks, the Hammers showed exactly what they can do. Crystal Palace is a different test, but not one they can’t overcome. With tired legs and injuries on the opposite side, West Ham could really do a job on Monday night, and they need to.

“Crystal Palace are nearly safe and rightfully enjoying their European dream. All of this should play into the Hammers hands. Nuno’s team have a difficult run in and this is a game they should be able to win. Palace are an established side and will fight hard no matter who starts. but the Hammers have to take this chance.

“I have West Ham winning this game, but as always, it’ll be a nervy one.”

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 West Ham
