West Ham winger could have huge impact down the line after breakout game: Opinion

West Ham United fell just short of a place in the FA Cup semi finals on Sunday afternoon. The Hammers scored two stoppage time goals to peg back Leeds United and should have won the game in extra time. Unfortunately, West Ham could not find the all-important winner and would miss out on Wembley in the penalty shootout.

Whilst the result was ultimately disappointing for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, there was lot of positives to take from the game. Not only did a depleted Hammers team show strong fight to get back into the game but certain individuals put on a show.

One of the big names to do so, was Adama Traore. Since joining the club the 30-year-old has struggled to find his feat but after vowing to improve, the winger was one of West Ham‘s strongest attacking outputs on Sunday.

Traore’s performance culminated in him getting the assist, his first goal contribution in an Irons shirt, for Axel Disasi’s equalizer at the end of the game. That goals sent the match to extra time, where the Hammers will feel they should of won the game.

Adama Traore ready to contribute for West Ham

Traore’s big game was a huge plus for Nuno’s team. Crysencio Summerville has been out since before the international break, and with West Ham low on wide options, the 30-year-old has been thrust into action.

Whilst Summerville is expected to return, Traore has finally begun to step up to the plate, giving the Hammers some much needed depth in the area. Not only that but it give Nuno the option to play the former Barcelona attacker, Summerville and Jarrod Bowen in the same team if needed.

The Irons have been a little blunt up top all season and need the help. The improved form of Traore give them just what they need and at the right time.

The 30-year-old finally looked at home on Sunday afternoon and if he can contribute in the same way down the stretch, it will go a long way to keeping the team in the Premier League.

Huge games on the horizon for the Hammers

West Ham host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night. A win at the London Stadium would be huge and take them out of the relegation zone heading into Saturday.

The big games in April don’t stop there. The following Monday the Hammers head to Crystal Palace, a side who are just about safe. Nuno’s team will see this as huge opportunity to make up ground in the league table.

The month finishes off with a trip to Everton. The Toffees are chasing Europe this season but that does not change the fact that the Irons will see this as a winnable game in their quest for survival.
