  • Adama Traore joined West Ham from Fulham in January
  • The former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger has played nine times for West Ham so far
  • Nuno Espirito Santo’s team are one point from safety

West Ham United are deep in a relegation battle this season. The Hammers 2-0 loss to Aston Villa at the weekend, left them heading into the international break one point from safety in the Premier League.

A lot has changed for West Ham in 2026, with boss Nuno Espirito Santo using January to bring in some much needed reinforcements. A number of players came through the door at the London Stadium, with on-loan defender, Axel Disasi being the big success story so far.

One player that hasn’t found his feat yet is Adama Traore. The 30-year-old joined the club from Fulham, having played under Nuno at Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in his career. Traore has made nine appearances for Hammers so far but is yet to register a goal involvement and has only started two games.

West Ham and Adama Traore heading for a brief spell together

Traore joined the Hammers on a short-term deal and according to Football Insider, there is very little chance the deal is renewed, no matter which division West Ham are in next season.

A number of Premier League sides already have their eyes on the 30-year-old, knowing he would be available for free, with Traore having nine top flight seasons on his CV. Wolves were keen on a reunion with the player but the Hammers swooped in ahead of the club. With them almost certainly heading for the Championship, it seems they, like the Irons, will be without Traore next season.

Despite never reaching his full potential in England’s top division, the former Barcelona winger is highly-regarded within Premier League sides and is said to have many suitors going forward.

Traore’s focus may be on keeping Irons up but it seems his future will be away from the London Stadium, even if the Hammers survive.
