Former Premier League striker Robbie Keane has been lauding West Ham attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini.

The 28-year-old Argentine has often been a fan favourite at the London Stadium and but for serious injury setbacks, might’ve made an even bigger impact.

Signed from United Arab Emirates club Al Jazira in 2016, Lanzini has found the net on 28 occasions in 183 outings as a Hammer.

Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the Irons’ 3-2 defeat at the hands of Leeds United, Keane compared the ace to a fellow South American technician.

Lanzini, he kind of reminds me of (Philippe) Coutinho in the way he plays in terms of technique and low centre of gravity. Some of the goals he scores are incredible. He’s really stopped up. He’s got unbelievable technique. When I say Coutinho, I mean quick feet and very, very sharp.

Despite tasting defeat, the five-cap Argentinian was a standout performer for the hosts, whilst Philippe Coutinho scored on debut for Aston Villa.

This season Lanzini has scored six times and provided two assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.

Whilst comparing players is a difficult task, there are certainly similarities between the two.

Both technically gifted, slight in stature with a low centre of gravity, Lanzini and Coutinho are capable of unlocking any defence on their day.

West Ham and David Moyes alike will ultimately want more from their very own £9million valued number 10 creator as the season heads steadfastly into the business end.
