West Ham offer Carroll to Newcastle in Shelvey swap deal
West Ham are said to have offered Newcastle United the chance to re-sign Andy Carroll in a stunning swap deal for Jonjo Shelvey.
According to the Chronicle, Carroll has been offered to Rafa Benitez’s side, with Manuel Pellegrini keen to land Shelvey this month.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Shelvey, but face a battle to convince Benitez into selling this month.
West Ham will be hoping that by including Carroll as part of the deal, Newcastle could be tempted to cash in on the midfielder.
Unfortunately for the Hammers, it is claimed that the offer was swiftly rejected by Newcastle, who are looking to keep hold of one of their key players.
Carroll has struggled for game time under Manuel Pellegrini this season and has reportedly been made available for a transfer.
The striker had been linked with Tottenham, but recent reports clarified that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have no plans to bring him in this month after Harry Kane’s injury.
