West Ham have decided against signing striker Devante Cole on a permanent basis this summer.
The Manchester City youngster spent last week on trial with the Hammers, playing and training with the Development Squad following his release, and played in the friendly against Colchester.
Now, the England U19 international striker has joined up with Championship side Birmingham City on a trial basis, the club have confirmed over twitter, as seen here in London 24.
Son of former Manchester United legend Andy Cole, Devante spent most of last season on loan in League One, with two clubs, Barnsley and MK Dons, scoring eight goals in 34 appearances for the club.
The 20-year-old would’ve likely spent the next season or two playing for West Ham’s Development Squad, alongside another former Sky Blue youngster Martin Samuelsen, who joined the club on a free transfer last month and has impressed so far in pre-season.
As for Cole, he will not be joining, and our striker search continues.
