Irons Set £4m Asking Price For Michu

West Ham have been told they need to fork out £4m if they wish to sign Swansea attacker Michu this summer, reports the Daily Star.

The 29-year-old, who signed for Swansea in the summer of 2012 for just £2m and was a star for the Welsh club, has seemingly burned his bridges at the Liberty Stadium, with Garry Monk willing to let the once £30m-rated star leave for just £4m.

The Hammers, along with Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Newcastle were all very interested in signing the Spaniard last summer, before he opted for a lucrative loan spell at Serie A side Napoli.

Michu lit the Premier League alight in the 2012/13 season, scoring 22 goals in 43 games in all competitions that season playing as a main striker as well as in behind, earning him his first and only international cap, and garnering transfer links to some of England’s top clubs in Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, his second season, blighted by injuries, was not as successful. Only two goals in 17 Premier League games that season and the tide had turned on Michu, who wanted out. Struck by injuries again last season at Napoli, only making five appearances the entire season, it’s hard to see where his next move lies.

With a year left to run on his current contract, he held talks with Huw Jenkins about his future yesterday, but it’s expected to be the case that he still wants out.
