West Ham have been handed a boost in their efforts to sign striker Islam Slimani from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, with the club revealing they will look to sell the striker.
Leicester and the Hammers tried and failed to sign the Algerian forward last summer, which led to Slimani falling out with Sporting Lisbon due to them demanding his €30m release clause was met.
No club was prepared to pay that amount for Slimani but Sporting have now acknowledged next summer will be the time to let the striker leave, according to O Jogo.
They say that Sporting managed to patch things up with Slimani last summer but that certainly doesn’t mean he sees his future with the club, as it’s financially beneficial to play in the Premier League.
Sporting agreed to pay third party investors 20% of any profit they make on selling Slimani in the future when they bought him for €300k from CR Belouizdad, which could end up being a sizeable figure.
