Striker Andy Carroll looks set to miss more time with West Ham, having aggravated a knee injury last night against Southampton.
Carroll picked up the initial injury to his knee against former club Liverpool which meant he missed out last week against Manchester United, but was fit enough for the bench last night.
The re-occurrence of the injury he picked up in the second half against Southampton is said to keep him out for ‘at least 6-8 weeks’, according to The Telegraph.
The England international is due for a scan on the knee tomorrow, according to The Times, but it’s already being reported he will miss up to two months of action.
“It’s the same knee, he got kicked in the back of the knee and felt something wrong” said Allardyce after the game.
“He stayed up and was a nuisance. I just hope that staying on hasn’t done any more damage.
“He got fit in two and a half weeks after Liverpool but clearly it’s going to take longer this time because it’s the same injury.”
West Ham look set to return to the strike partnership that saw them rise to a season-high third in the Premier League table before the turn of the year in Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia.
