Chelsea Slap In Bid For Valencia

Reports surfaced today that Chelsea will test West Ham’s resolve with a £21m bid for striker Enner Valencia before the January transfer window shuts in a couple of days.

The Mirror, Telegraph and Guardian have all reported in the last 24 hours that Chelsea will be making a big money move for the Ecuardorian striker.

Chelsea are expected to completed the £27m signing of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina before the deadline, and won’t stop their January spending there.

Valencia has only netted four times in 23 appearances for the Hammers since signing from Pachuca last summer for a fee of £12.5m.  Chelsea’s offer would give West Ham over £8m in profit in just six months, and would be the asset attached to largest fee West Ham have ever received for a player, beating the £18m Leeds paid for Rio Ferdinand 15 years ago.
