West Ham reportedly believe 92 points could secure automatic promotion this season, leaving Nuno Espírito Santo’s side needing another 77 from their remaining 38 Championship matches.
Hammers News reports that a senior club source considers that total sufficient, although it remains an internal assessment rather than a guaranteed promotion threshold.
The source told the outlet: “We hope we get 100 points plus.”
West Ham currently have 15 points from eight games, with the EFL table placing them second behind Swansea City.
What the West Ham promotion target requires
Reaching 92 would require slightly more than two points per game across the rest of the campaign.
For perspective, 23 wins and eight draws from the remaining 38 fixtures would deliver exactly the additional 77 points needed. That combination would leave room for seven defeats.
The arithmetic shows why consistency matters. West Ham can afford setbacks, but they would need to sustain promotion-level results across the remaining seven months.
Their current return of 15 points from eight matches equates to 1.875 points per game. Maintained over a 46-game season, that pace would produce approximately 86 points.
QPR offer the next opportunity
West Ham resume their league campaign against QPR at London Stadium on Friday 9 October.
Victory would take them to 18 points from nine games, exactly two per match and a pace equivalent to 92 over the full season.
However, Mohamadou Kanté’s suspension already gives Nuno a selection issue against Rangers.
The reported target provides a useful benchmark. Where it would leave West Ham ultimately depends on their promotion rivals.
