West Ham launch limited Boleyn ’99 collection inspired by iconic crest

West Ham United have launched a new five-piece Boleyn ’99 clothing collection celebrating one of the club’s most recognisable historic crests.

The limited range takes inspiration from the badge introduced ahead of the 1999/00 season and combines that design with modern terrace-style clothing.

For supporters who remember the Boleyn Ground era, the collection brings a familiar piece of West Ham history back into current matchday fashion.

West Ham officially unveiled the Boleyn ’99 collection, describing the release as a celebration of an “iconic crest” and “famous legacy”.

West Ham Boleyn ’99 collection includes five pieces

The capsule contains five different items.

There is a retro track top, fleece hoodie, off-white graphic T-shirt, pique polo shirt and low-profile cap.

GOAL reports that the collection is built around heavyweight fabrics and relaxed fits, with each piece featuring the distinctive yellow-bordered crest containing the crossed hammers and castle.

That badge was introduced ahead of the 1999/00 campaign.

The season itself remains strongly associated with Paolo Di Canio, Frank Lampard and a generation of supporters who still identify closely with West Ham’s former home.

The connection to that period gives the release more meaning than a generic retro range.

Read West Ham has previously looked back at why the Boleyn Ground meant far more than simply a football stadium, with the venue remaining central to the identity of generations of supporters.

East London locations feature in West Ham campaign

The launch campaign also leans heavily into that local history.

Rather than using a conventional studio, West Ham photographed the collection at BJ’s Pie & Mash on Barking Road and the Boleyn Tavern.

Both locations remain closely connected with the matchday culture surrounding the club’s old ground.

GOAL reports that the decision was designed to root the collection in West Ham’s East London identity rather than simply reference the 1990s through clothing alone.

That approach gives the campaign a particularly strong nostalgic feel.

Supporters who travelled to Upton Park will recognise the streets, pubs and local businesses that formed part of the matchday experience long before West Ham moved to London Stadium in 2016.

It also arrives ten years after the Hammers’ final season at the Boleyn Ground.

Where can fans buy the Boleyn ’99 collection?

The collection is available now through the official West Ham online store.

West Ham have described it as a limited collection, while GOAL reports that stock has been released in limited quantities.

That could make the range particularly attractive to supporters wanting something different from the club’s current playing shirts.

The timing is also notable.

West Ham travel to Millwall on Saturday for their first competitive meeting with their rivals since 2012, while the Boleyn Ground itself has an important connection to the rivalry.

Millwall were West Ham’s first opponents at the Boleyn Ground in 1904, with the Hammers winning 3-0.

Read West Ham’s West Ham vs Millwall rivalry guide details how that fixture became part of the club’s history.

The Boleyn ’99 release therefore arrives at a particularly nostalgic moment.

More than a decade after West Ham left their old home, the club are again using one of the Boleyn era’s most recognisable symbols to connect the past with the present.
