West Ham secure Viviane Asseyi future until 2028 after major contract decision

West Ham United have secured the future of Viviane Asseyi after the forward signed a new two-year contract extension with the club.

The France international has committed herself to the Hammers until the summer of 2028, extending a spell in east London which began when she arrived from Bayern Munich in 2022.

Asseyi has developed into one of West Ham Women’s most important players during that time, recording 32 goals and 17 assists across 108 appearances. Her appearance total is the second-highest for the women’s team since the club turned professional in 2018.

Asseyi made clear that remaining at West Ham was a straightforward decision because of the connection she has developed with the club.

“I feel at home here. I love the Club, my family loves the Club,” she told West Ham’s official website after signing her new contract.

The 32-year-old has also set her sights on helping Rita Guarino’s side continue progressing after a significant summer rebuild.

West Ham have added considerable experience and attacking quality ahead of the new campaign, with ReadWestHam analysing how nine summer additions have transformed Guarino’s squad.

That group includes forwards Ebony Salmon and Kelly Gago, giving Guarino greater competition around Asseyi as West Ham attempt to improve on last season. Asseyi herself highlighted the quality of the new arrivals and said she is excited about what the group can achieve together.

Her own importance remains clear.

Asseyi was named Hammer of the Year after producing 13 goals and seven assists in 2024/25, before adding another five goals and five assists last season.

West Ham have already invested heavily in changing the squad around her. The permanent signing of England forward Ebony Salmon was one of the most notable attacking additions this summer.

Now they have ensured one of the established leaders of that attack will remain alongside those new arrivals.

With Asseyi tied down until 2028, Guarino can build her new-look forward line around a player who has already established herself as one of the defining figures of West Ham Women’s modern era.
