West Ham U21s have learned their opponents for the 2026/27 Premier League Cup group stage, with a meeting against fierce London rivals Millwall among the standout fixtures.
Mark Robson’s young Hammers will also face Brighton & Hove Albion and Sheffield United as their schedule continues to take shape.
West Ham confirmed the draw on Tuesday morning, adding another competition to an already busy campaign for the academy.
The young Hammers are preparing to begin their Premier League 2 season against Southampton at Rush Green on Friday, 21 August.
West Ham U21 Premier League Cup opponents confirmed
West Ham confirmed on their official website that Robson’s side will compete against Sheffield United, Brighton and Millwall in the Premier League Cup group stage.
The Millwall fixture immediately stands out given the rivalry between the two clubs and should provide West Ham’s youngsters with another demanding test.
Brighton will also be familiar opposition. The two academies met in Premier League 2 last season, while Sheffield United provide a different challenge from outside the regular PL2 schedule.
The draw arrives just a day after ReadWestHam reported West Ham’s full Premier League 2 fixture schedule.
That campaign will see Robson’s youngsters play 20 regular-season matches, with the top 16 sides advancing to the knockout play-offs.
West Ham’s academy pathway has also been prominent around Nuno Espírito Santo’s senior squad this summer.
Lewis Orford was handed his first competitive West Ham start in Saturday’s Carabao Cup win over Portsmouth after impressing throughout pre-season.
More young players will now have opportunities to make their case across a busy U21 schedule, with the Premier League Cup adding further competitive minutes alongside Premier League 2 and the National League Cup.
