Reiss Nelson’s move to West Ham is reportedly 90 per cent complete, with personal terms agreed and Arsenal keen to sanction the winger’s departure. A potential medical concern is now said to be one of the final issues surrounding the deal as Nuno Espírito Santo closes in on another attacking addition.
West Ham have moved quickly in their pursuit of Nelson after initially exploring a loan for the 26-year-old over the weekend.
ReadWestHam reported on Sunday that the Hammers had begun assessing the conditions of a possible move for the Arsenal academy graduate.
Reiss Nelson West Ham deal moves towards completion
Claret and Hugh now claims the transfer is “90% done”, with everything agreed with Nelson and Arsenal keen to move him on.
That represents significant progress from Tuesday morning, when ReadWestHam reported that Arsenal and West Ham had entered talks but personal terms had yet to be discussed.
There is still one note of caution.
The latest C&H update claims West Ham have concerns surrounding Nelson’s potential medical because of his previous injury problems.
Nelson has endured disrupted spells during his recent loans away from Arsenal, including a hamstring injury which ended his time at Fulham prematurely.
That does not mean the transfer is in danger of collapsing, but West Ham will understandably want clarity over his physical condition before completing the move.
Arsenal appear ready to facilitate his departure.
Nelson has spent the previous two campaigns away from the Emirates, first with Fulham and then Brentford, and his opportunities under Mikel Arteta have become increasingly limited.
West Ham have already strengthened out wide by signing Manor Solomon from Tottenham, but Nelson would provide Nuno with another experienced option capable of operating on either flank.
If the remaining medical checks are passed without issue, the latest report suggests another West Ham signing could now be very close.
