‘Off’ – David Ornstein drops major West Ham transfer update

A fresh West Ham transfer update has revealed that talks with Tottenham Hotspur over Manor Solomon are currently off after the two clubs failed to agree on the financial structure of a deal.

West Ham had been pushing to sign the 27-year-old as Nuno Espírito Santo looks to add another winger before the Championship season begins.

However, David Ornstein reported on Thursday that negotiations between the London clubs have broken down for financial reasons.

The Hammers are looking to pay around £5million for Solomon. Tottenham also want bonuses included should West Ham secure promotion back to the Premier League, but the east London club are not currently prepared to accept those terms.

West Ham transfer talks break down over Tottenham demands

It represents a significant change in the situation.

ReadWestHam reported earlier on Thursday that Solomon was among four leading targets in a potential £75m recruitment push, alongside Joel Veltman, Troy Parrott and Arne Engels.

Solomon appeared a logical option after Crysencio Summerville’s departure left Nuno needing greater depth out wide.

He also has proven Championship experience. The winger scored 10 goals and provided 12 assists during Leeds United’s promotion-winning 2024/25 campaign.

A deal cannot necessarily be considered completely dead while the window remains open, particularly if either club changes its position.

For now, though, West Ham appear unwilling to meet Tottenham’s demands.

Fiorentina are also pushing to sign Solomon after his loan spell in Italy last season, although their current proposal reportedly falls below Tottenham’s valuation.

West Ham may therefore need either a compromise with Spurs or to turn their attention towards another winger as Nuno’s rebuild continues.
