West Ham United have confirmed goalkeeper Katie O’Hanlon has joined Aberdeen on loan for the entire 2026/27 season.
The Katie O’Hanlon Aberdeen loan gives the 22-year-old another opportunity to gain regular senior football after previous temporary spells with Hashtag United and Billericay Town.
West Ham announced the move ahead of the new campaign, with O’Hanlon joining a side that finished ninth in the Scottish Women’s Premier League last season.
The goalkeeper signed her first professional West Ham contract last summer after progressing through the club’s Professional Game Academy.
She has been part of the Hammers’ setup since joining the PGA in 2022.
Katie O’Hanlon Aberdeen loan continues development
O’Hanlon’s move comes during another significant summer of change for West Ham Women.
Rita Guarino’s squad has undergone a major rebuild ahead of the new WSL season, with nine new players joining and several positions strengthened.
ReadWestHam analysed how West Ham Women’s nine summer signings have transformed Guarino’s squad, with competition increasing across the first-team group as preparations continue for 2026/27.
For O’Hanlon, regular football in Scotland should provide the next stage of her development.
Her previous spells with Hashtag and Billericay gave her experience outside West Ham, but Aberdeen now offers an opportunity at a higher senior level across an entire campaign.
West Ham have retained control of her longer-term future by sanctioning a loan rather than permanent departure.
The Hammers will be able to monitor her progress throughout the season as Guarino continues shaping the goalkeeping department around her senior squad.
Aberdeen, meanwhile, gain a goalkeeper who has already experienced several different senior environments despite being only 22.
West Ham confirmed the move without announcing any option or obligation to make the transfer permanent.
