Amanda Staveley has taken a major step towards becoming a West Ham United shareholder after Vanessa Gold accepted an offer for the Gold family’s 25.1 per cent stake.
ExWHUEmployee reports that Gold has accepted Staveley’s proposal and a formal pre-emption process will now follow. Existing West Ham shareholders have the right to match the terms before the consortium can complete its purchase.
The Times has also reported that Staveley’s consortium has agreed a deal for the 25.1 per cent holding. The agreement represents a significant development after several days of negotiations over the club’s ownership.
Amanda Staveley West Ham stake still faces final hurdle
ReadWestHam reported on Friday that Staveley had held talks over acquiring the Gold family shares, although an agreement had not been reached at that stage.
That position has now changed. However, Staveley has not formally become a West Ham shareholder yet because the club’s existing investors retain pre-emption rights.
ExWHUEmployee says that process could take up to 60 days. Daniel Křetínský will be one of the key figures to watch after previously agreeing terms to purchase around 16 per cent of the Gold family holding himself.
The Times reports that Staveley’s consortium has agreed to purchase the stake and could eventually pursue a wider takeover.
Staveley previously helped lead the Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle United before selling her shares in 2024. Her West Ham move is being backed by a consortium of investors and appears to form part of larger ambitions at the London Stadium.
For now, Gold accepting the offer is a major step forward, but the pre-emption process must be completed before Staveley can formally acquire the shares.
