Amanda Staveley has held talks over purchasing around 25 per cent of West Ham United, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The former Newcastle United director is leading a consortium interested in acquiring shares controlled by the Gold family.
Reporting through The West Ham Way Patreon, ExWHUEmployee said his ownership source first identified Staveley’s interest at the beginning of the summer.
He claims her consortium wants to purchase the Gold shares before potentially targeting holdings owned by David Sullivan or other investors. However, Ex stressed that the discussions are not guaranteed to produce an agreement.
ReadWestHam previously covered the fresh Amanda Staveley ownership development after reports emerged that her group was in pole position to acquire the 25.1 per cent Gold family stake.
Amanda Staveley West Ham stake faces ownership obstacle
West Ham’s pre-emption rights give existing shareholders the first opportunity to purchase any available shares.
Daniel Křetínský agreed terms in June to acquire around 16 per cent from Vanessa Gold. However, the transaction has not yet been finalised and Křetínský currently retains his existing 27 per cent holding.
Ex suggested Staveley’s interest may increase pressure on those involved to reach a decision. He also believes information regarding the consortium may have entered the public domain to accelerate negotiations.
The club declined to comment when approached by Ex. West Ham also denied that the ownership uncertainty had delayed their summer recruitment and maintained that talks with transfer targets were continuing.
Staveley’s interest could eventually lead to a wider change in control, particularly if her consortium later pursued Sullivan’s 38.8 per cent stake.
For now, West Ham remain in a complicated position. Talks have taken place, but supporters must wait for the pre-emption process and the proposed Křetínský transaction to be resolved before Staveley can formally enter the club.
