West Ham United have made an enquiry over a possible George Ilenikhena transfer as Nuno Espírito Santo searches for another striker.
Al-Ittihad are willing to consider a loan with an option to buy, although the 19-year-old will take his time before deciding where to move.
Transfer reporter Sacha Tavolieri says West Ham, Schalke and Genoa have requested information about Ilenikhena’s availability.
The striker is interested in returning to European football only six months after joining Al-Ittihad. However, he will not rush his decision and wants to assess every available project.
West Ham could offer regular football as they attempt to secure immediate promotion from the Championship. Genoa can provide top-flight football, while Schalke are also capable of presenting an attractive route back to Europe.
George Ilenikhena transfer could solve striker problem
Ilenikhena emerged at Royal Antwerp before joining Monaco in 2024. He scored 10 goals in 51 appearances for the Ligue 1 club and later moved to Al-Ittihad for a reported €33million.
His pace, physical strength and ability to attack space would provide Nuno with a different option through the middle.
West Ham need further competition at centre-forward. Niclas Füllkrug is expected to leave, while Taty Castellanos has also attracted interest from Real Betis.
The Hammers have considered several possible additions, including free agent Bamba Dieng. ReadWestHam recently examined why the club have been handed the chance to sign the 16-goal striker.
A loan would reduce the immediate financial risk surrounding Ilenikhena. West Ham could assess his adaptation to English football before deciding whether to activate a permanent option.
However, the proposed George Ilenikhena transfer remains at an early stage. West Ham have made an enquiry, but there is no indication that formal negotiations or an offer have followed.
