West Ham may find a Bamba Dieng transfer more affordable after the free-agent striker saw two proposed moves collapse.
The Senegal international reportedly requested an annual salary of €1.8million net, worth around £1.5million or £28,800 per week after tax. His representatives also wanted a signing bonus.
However, Spanish outlet OrgulloBiri claims Dieng may now have to lower those demands.
The 26-year-old remains without a club after leaving Lorient when his contract expired. Sevilla are monitoring his situation, while West Ham have also featured in reports surrounding the forward.
Bamba Dieng transfer could offer West Ham value
Dieng had been close to joining Al-Shabab before the Saudi Pro League reportedly blocked the investment.
A proposed move to newly promoted Turkish side Amed SK then collapsed despite negotiations reaching an advanced stage. The club blamed fresh demands, although Dieng’s camp claimed the project had changed the agreed conditions.
Those setbacks have left the striker available as West Ham consider adding further competition in attack.
Dieng scored 16 goals in 26 appearances for Lorient last season. He offers mobility through the middle and can attack space behind a defensive line.
The absence of a transfer fee would also allow West Ham to direct more of their budget towards other positions. However, his reported figure represents a net salary, meaning the club’s total wage cost would be higher after tax.
Nuno Espírito Santo needs another dependable forward, particularly while Taty Castellanos’ future remains uncertain. ReadWestHam recently explained why the club must reject an unsuitable Castellanos loan exit.
No reliable source has confirmed that West Ham have started negotiations with Dieng. His availability nevertheless gives the recruitment team a low-cost option worth assessing.
A Bamba Dieng transfer would only represent a bargain if the salary, signing bonus and length of contract remain sensible.
