West Ham United have added 1. FC Magdeburg to their pre-season schedule, giving Nuno Espirito Santo one final controlled test before the Championship campaign begins.
West Ham confirmed on Threads that the Magdeburg fixture completes their summer programme.
It follows the earlier confirmed games against Southend United and Stevenage, which Read West Ham has already assessed as part of Nuno’s first preparation block.
West Ham have also arranged a trip to Rangers, with Read West Ham previously covering the Ibrox friendly as a more demanding summer marker.
The Magdeburg match is therefore more than a late-summer run-out. It should give Nuno a final look at rhythm, selection balance and physical readiness before the league programme begins.
West Ham’s Championship opener is away to Burnley on Sunday, 16 August. Sky Sports lists the Turf Moor fixture as a 4pm kick-off.
That is a sharp first test against another relegated side, not a soft landing.
Pre-season results rarely matter on their own. But this fixture arrives at the point where experiments should start turning into a promotion-ready plan.
